Coca Cola Truck Accident in the Bronx Leaves 1 Dead, 6 Injured
|
A tragic accident involving a Coca-Cola truck left one person dead and six more injured in the Bronx. WABC reports that the truck ran off the road and hit a group of people waiting for a bus on East 138th Street near Bruckner Boulevard in the Port Morris section. A 37-year old woman, Shaniqua Silva, died at the scene and EMS workers assessed 6 more people with reportedly minor injuries.
WABC reports that Mrs. Silva was the mother of five children, the youngest of whom is 14 years old. She was on the phone with her husband, Orlando Silva, when the crash occurred. "She was talking to me on the phone today, as I was speaking to her on the phone, she said Oh! and that's the last thing I heard from her, I thought somebody snatched her phone away but no," Mr. Silva told WABC.
The exact details of the accident are still unclear. Some witnesses said the truck was hit by a vehicle trying to avoid a motorcycle. "You heard the brake, but then it went out of control and slammed right into the wall," said witness Ericson Padilla to WABC.
